Things Are Not Important… Faith Is
I know a lot of you (if you are on Facebook) have seen my progress updates for reading the book “Crazy Love”. I am not finished with it yet but I encourage you to read it. I just finished Chapter 9 and it has amazing stories of believers and what they have done to further God’s Kingdom. They all gave up so much to gain everything! A man named George Mueller sticks with me. He became a Christian while in college (early 1800s). He moved to England with his wife to become a preacher. Instead he saw all these orphans all over the place. They decided to start an orphanage and they did it all with no money. They prayed for God to provide and He did! They never earned any money of their own. God provided it all through donations from many people. Every penny (pound) went to help those in need. ALL of it was accomplished through prayer and faith!
This made me look hard at myself. What have I been doing with my money? Would I have the faith to totally rely on God for it all? Right now I would say No. I don’t have that faith but I am learning. I am trying. I am praying more than I ever have. I want to be completely faithful to Him. How am I ever going to do it? I have to strive to become DEBT FREE. I cannot help anyone who needs it today because of my selfishness over the years. I have bought so many things because I wanted them. I did not need them. I could have used that money to help someone that needed it.
Why am I sharing this? Because you may be going through the same thing. You may be struggling with your faith and what God wants you to do. I encourage you to do what I have started. Pray every day, talk to God. Read His Word. Start some daily devotionals. PRAY. Go to church. Spend time with fellow believers. PRAY. Keep your mind awake and ready to listen to where God wants you to be. Did I mention to PRAY? I am not perfect and never will be. But I will never give up because Jesus never gave up on me.
